The Turn of the Key by Ruth Ware. (2019).

**5 out of 5 stars**

When Rowan is looking for something else, she stumbles across the advert for a live-in nanny with a generous salary and it seems like a perfect opportunity. When Rowan arrives she is smitten by the luxurious smart home in the beautiful Scottish Highlands and the picture-perfect family. What she doesn’t know is that she’s stepping into a nightmare which will end with a dead child and her in prison. She knows she’s made mistakes but she’s adamant she didn’t commit murder…so who did?

Hello first 5 star review for 2020! I’d seen quite a few good reviews for this one and have had it on my shelf for a little while before getting to it. So glad I took it on holiday with me because I got to read the whole book in a 24 hour period and I think that really added to the atmosphere of the story. It was super eerie to imagine being in Rowan’s position (smart houses sound cool, but creepy!). There were a few clever twists, one big one I guessed (when you read a LOT of thrillers, you can pick the twists sometimes haha) but even though I picked right, it didn’t lessen my enjoyment of the story at all. I can’t recommend this thriller more, it’s fantastic; try to binge read if you can!
