The Whisper Man by Alex North. (2019).
**4 out of 5 stars**
Still devastated after the loss of his wife, Tom and his young son Jake move to the quiet village of Featherbank. But Featherbank has a dark past; 15 years ago a serial killer known as ‘The Whisper Man’ abducted and murdered five boys before being caught. It shouldn’t be a worry except now another boy has gone missing. And then Jake begins acting strangely and says he hears whispering at the window…
I kept seeing this book pop up on my Instagram feed with excellent reviews so my expectations were pretty high. It didn’t disappoint and I quite enjoyed this book. I really liked that for me there was the touch of is something supernatural going on, no it’s not, but wait maybe it is…I appreciated the ambiguous nature of it as I thought it was done really well. The narrative is quite dark (as expected with child murders) and I can definitely see the book being made into a psychological thriller movie someday.
Overall it was an intriguing clever thriller that I think a lot of readers will relish.
